Entries gone

You may have noticed that my entries have disappeared. I've marked all of them private, and will be deleting them completely when I get home tonight.

The reason is here.

With LJ's policy, all it takes is one site I've linked to forgetting to renew their domain and a squatter picking it up. Or one loony whose page I've linked to getting mad and deciding to get even. It's simply not feasible for me to keep a continuous watch on every single page I've linked to over the years. I can't do it. I won't do it. Bye-bye LJ. I'll keep my account so I can read other people's journals, but I won't be renewing paid status when it expires and this will be the last post in my journal here.

If you want my scribblings, I'll be over at my InsaneJournal from now on. I've got Labor Day off, so that weekend I'll be hacking up a tool to post and back-date all my LJ entries to IJ.

Wanting to keep all of my self-work, I have archived all of my entries, and am storing them on my hard-drive. I have a lot of work to do, sorting out the fluff from the work entries.

I am confused. You are Jeran?

Sparrow

On LJ and IJ and some MUCKs, yes. There's a Jeran on GreatestJournal who isn't me.

It confused me because the link you gave says you are somewhere other than where you live. By a long way.

Sparrow

The link's to [info]liz_marcs's journal, not mine.

Clicking on the Info tab took me to Jeran's Den. Ij user Jeran. From San Diego.

I am very confused now.

Off to work where I don't have to think about such things....

Sparrow

Yes, that's where I live.

I've got an account over at Greatest Journal, m'self. The last thing I need is to have to add a hundred different journals just to keep track of people.

I've got an account there too, but I prefer IJ's firm position on their ToS.

ISAGN for an RSS aggregator that can pull updates to blogs on any number of sites together into a single page in your browser. Interestingly Mozilla may have something along those lines built-in, I have to poke at it.
