When you sign a deal with the devil...
Bill Frist is finding out the true cost of the devil's deal the Republican Party signed with the Religious Right. If he doesn't support stem-cell research, he alienates 2/3rds of the country and his constituents and opens himself to some really damaging and entirely legitimate shots by his opponents in the next election (voters seem to have a lot of sympathy for the guy in the wheelchair asking "Why, Senator, are you blocking the research that could cure me?"). On the other hand, if he does support stem-cell research, it costs him the support of the core of his political machine.
